Fence Installation Built for Nash County Properties
Nash County is where we’re from. We drive these roads to every job because we live on them. The county runs a wide range, from Rocky Mount’s residential neighborhoods and commercial corridors to Nashville’s newer subdivisions, larger rural lots in Red Oak and Spring Hope, and working agricultural land throughout.
That range shows up in the work. A vinyl privacy fence in a Nashville HOA community is a different project than a chain-link perimeter around a distribution facility off US-64. The soil shifts too, with Piedmont clay and Coastal Plain sand meeting somewhere in the middle of this county, and what’s underfoot changes the way every post gets set. Permits are fragmented across multiple municipalities, and each one handles them differently.
We’ve dealt with all of it. Hundreds of times.

Communities We Serve in Nash County
Every community page covers permits, soil conditions, and the specific fence types we install most in that area.
Rocky Mount
The county’s largest city and where most of our residential and commercial work concentrates. Established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and a significant commercial corridor along US-64 and I-95.
Nashville
The county seat and Nash County’s fastest-growing municipality. A mix of historic streets with newer residential development that brings HOA requirements and steady fencing demand.
Red Oak
Rural residential with larger lots north of Nashville. More linear footage per project and fewer HOA constraints. Wood privacy and vinyl are the most common requests.
Dortches
Our home base. A mix of residential lots and light commercial parcels along Dortches Blvd near the Rocky Mount metro edge. We know every road here.
Spring Hope & Bailey
Small towns on the county’s eastern and southern edges. Spring Hope has a historic downtown core. Bailey and the surrounding area lean agricultural, and chain link and practical perimeter work are common.
Smaller Towns & Unincorporated Nash County
Castalia, Middlesex, Momeyer, Whitakers, Sharpsburg, and the rural routes between them. Larger lots, different permit rules, and variable drainage along the Tar River basin. If your address is in Nash County, we cover it.
What We Install in Nash County
Nash County covers a wide range of property types. These are the four fence types we install most here — matched to how the county is actually built and used.

Wood Fencing
The most-requested material in Nash County’s established neighborhoods and rural residential lots.

Vinyl & PVC
Fencing
First choice for HOA communities in Nashville and newer subdivisions across the county.

Chain Link
Fencing
Handles commercial perimeters along US-64 and I-95, plus rural containment and agricultural use.

Aluminum &
Ornamental Fencing
Pool enclosures, front-yard boundaries, and commercial entrances where appearance matters.
We also install: split rail · ranch rail · farm fencing · dog kennels · pool enclosures · gate operators & access control · temporary fencing · dumpster enclosures. Ask about availability for your property.

What Nash County Soil Does to a Fence
Nash County sits where the Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain. That transition means the soil underfoot isn’t consistent from one end of the county to the other, and it doesn’t always match what the surface looks like.
The lower-lying areas near the Tar River and Rocky Mount’s eastern corridors sit on poorly drained clay that holds moisture and shifts with the seasons.
Posts set at standard depth in those conditions move. The upland and agricultural areas toward Red Oak and Spring Hope drain better but run sandier, which means less natural grip on a post. Both conditions require adjustments, just different ones.
We set posts to a minimum of 30 inches across the county and go deeper where conditions call for it.
Concrete collar width varies depending on what we find: clay gets a different footing than sand.
On a residential install near the Tar River corridor
On a residential install near the Tar River corridor, we hit the transition from sandy loam to fine sandy clay at about 18 inches, right where a standard footing ends. We extended to 36 inches with concrete collars sized for the clay layer. That fence has stayed plumb through two wet seasons and a tropical storm remnant. That’s the kind of call you make correctly when you’ve been setting posts in this county for decades, not weeks.
Fence Permits in Nash County
Permits in Nash County are fragmented. Each municipality runs its own process, and the rules don’t match between neighboring towns.
Nash County Planning & Inspections
Handles unincorporated areas. Contact: nashcountync.gov. Rocky Mount, Nashville, Spring Hope, and the other incorporated towns each run their own permitting. Rocky Mount’s Inspection Services Division can be reached at 252-972-1109.
Pool fencing requires a separate permit county-wide
The minimum is a 4-foot barrier with a self-latching gate per NC pool safety code.
Permit details for each town are covered on the community pages linked above
We handle the permit process on every project.

Nash County Fence Installation
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to install a fence in Nash County?
It depends on which municipality your property is in. Nash County Planning & Inspections handles unincorporated areas. Rocky Mount, Nashville, and the other incorporated towns each run their own permitting process with different rules. We navigate the requirements for whichever jurisdiction your property falls under and handle the application on your behalf.
How deep do fence posts need to be in Nash County?
We set posts to a minimum of 30 inches, and deeper where site conditions require it. Nash County’s soil ranges from poorly drained clay near the Tar River to sandy loam on the upland side. Both present challenges: clay shifts seasonally, and sand doesn’t grip a post well on its own. The right depth and footing size depend on what we find during the site visit.
What fence material works best for Nash County properties?
It depends on the property type, location, and what the fence needs to do. Wood is the most popular in established neighborhoods and rural residential. Vinyl is the practical choice for HOA communities and newer subdivisions. Chain link handles commercial and agricultural perimeters efficiently. Aluminum works well for pool enclosures and front yards. We walk through the options during the estimate based on your property and requirements.
How long does a fence installation take?
Most residential projects are completed in one to three days once permits are secured. Permit processing timelines vary by municipality. Rocky Mount and Nashville each have their own pace. Commercial and larger rural projects may take longer. We cover the full schedule during the estimate so you can plan around it.
