Project Overview
This Eastern NC homeowner wanted a fence that would read as more than a plain privacy wall along the back of the property — full coverage at eye level, but with some detail up top instead of a flat cap. Fence Craft installed a 6′ white PVC privacy fence with a diamond lattice topper, running the line from a wooded corner of the yard along the side of the home.
The fence turns a corner near a stand of mature pines at the back of the lot, then continues in a long, level run toward the house — keeping the tree line intact rather than clearing it to make room for a straight fence path.

Why This Design Worked
A solid privacy fence on its own can feel heavy from the yard side, especially along a long run. Topping the panels with a diamond lattice section breaks up that flat line and lets in a bit of light and air at the top, while the solid boards below still block sightlines at eye level where privacy actually matters.
PVC was the right call for the material itself. Eastern NC’s humidity and sandy soil are hard on wood — boards swell, warp, and need re-staining within a few years — while PVC panels hold their shape and color without any of that upkeep. Routing the fence around the pines at the back corner instead of cutting them down meant more careful post layout, but it kept the shade and screening those trees already provided.
